Spring Wedding Trends

With spring upon us, the start of wedding season begins. Wedding season is a great time of year where two people unite and friends and family gather to celebrate. However, planning a wedding can be stressful. You want to have everything perfect and on trend. So, Wedding And Party Network wants to give you the top spring wedding trends for 2011.

Wedding Colors – When figuring out your wedding colors for spring or summer, always keep the season in mind. For example, spring features more pastel colors. The top trends for the season are honeysuckle, pastel pink, lavender and a gorgeous pastel-mint color. These all fit spring perfectly. You can either play it down with soft creams and ivory, or play it up with orange, green or black and white.

Wedding Flowers – Keep with what's in season. Use beautiful tulips or daffodils for your wedding flowers. For something a little more unique, you can also use anemones, bird of paradise, orchids or sweet peas for your wedding. Spring is the ideal time for flowers. They are beginning to bloom and are absolutely gorgeous. So, why not stick with what's in season?

Wedding Catering -Again, keep with what's fresh and in season. Think light and refreshing for your wedding menu. Create a salad bar, use chicken and fish with fresh spring herbs, and create petit fours for your wedding cake. You can do macaroons, chocolate dipped strawberries, or even a Belgian waffle bar with fresh fruit toppings. Play up this time of year with a light and refreshing menu.

Wedding Favors – The wedding trend that will be here to stay is "going green". Be friendly to the environment with your wedding favors. Send your guests home with potted flowers, flower seeds or recycled bags that they can reuse over and over again. It's a great trend that helps the environment!

Spring Honeymoon Spots – One of the most fun parts of your wedding is your honeymoon. So, make sure you pick the perfect destination for this time of year. If you're wanting to stay within the USA, choose Las Vegas, Arizona or Washington D.C. These places would all be great to visit. They'll have very comfortable weather this time of year and there are lots of sights to be seen in these locations. However, if you're thinking outside of the USA, choose the Caribbean, Belize, South America, Australia or New Zealand. You'll be blown away by all the amazing sights that you'll see at each place and the weather will be spectacular as well! Just make it special and memorable!

So, when planning your spring wedding, keep these planning tips in mind. Spring is full of gorgeous colors and wonderful ideas!

Going Green!

What does March represent? Gorgeous weather, the beginning of springtime, St. Patrick’s Day and  blooming buds let us know that March is upon us. So, if you’re planning a party for this upcoming month, keep the word “green” in mind. Of course, you can throw a party that’s decked out in the color green. However, you can go a different route with a “green” party. Need an idea on where to start? Well, Wedding And Party Network is here to offer a few eco-friendly party tips to get you started.

"Green" Party Tips

  • Party InvitationsSend out an e-vite. People are spending more time online, so make it convenient for them with an online invitation. It saves paper, which helps save trees. However, if you must send out invitations, make sure you do so on recyclable paper.
  • TablewarePaper plates, utensils, paper cups and napkins can be the biggest waste at your party. Therefore, stick with reusable tableware items. Stick with recycled plastic plates, utensils and cups. Think of it as a great investment. You’ll be able to reuse these items numerous times and for many parties to come.
  • Party Decorations Again, stick with items that can be reused again. Chinese paper lanterns are fun, felt banners, colorful & vintage vases or old mason jars can be used as great party decorations. Use an old sheet for a tablecloth instead of the plastic one or create cloth goodies bags. The main tip here is to stay away from balloons since they are hazardous to the environment and are not biodegradable.
  • Party Favors - Send favors home that will remind your guests to be eco-friendly. For a child's birthday party, stick with felt birthday hats, recyclable rainbow crayons or organic snacks in a cloth bag. However, if it's an adult party, send your guests home with organic gourmet treats or soy candles. By sending environmental friendly party favors home with your guests, you might spark some interest in recycling at their home.

"Green" Party Themes

  • Star Gazing PartyIf there is a meteor shower or  a clear night full of stars, grab some sleeping bags and lawn chairs and host a star gazing party. Provide telescopes, binoculars, and constellation maps for your guests. Also, provide some warming hot chocolate, smores or fruits and vegetables. Just remember to keep it organic.
  • Camp & Cookout PartyProvide an outdoor experience with a camping party. Pitch tents and roll out sleeping bags for a party experience your guests won't forget. Roast marshmallows, serve drinks in reusable glasses and sit around telling fun stories.
  • Craft PartyHave left over scrap paper, stickers and craft supplies? Throw a craft party for your little one or friends. Make candles, melt down candles to make rainbow candles, create jewelry, bird houses out of plastic bottles or anything else that might be unique. You're reusing items that you and your guests will be able to use everyday.

Helping out with the environment is a huge trend now. So plan your party to make sure you are doing your part to help the environment. Throwing an eco-chic party will help spread the word to your guests and teach your kids the importance of being environmentally friendly.

St. Patrick's Day – Life Before Green Beer

Green beer, now who thought that one up? Enter the mystical world of Saint Patrick's Day.  The day in which you can swig green beer, try your hand at speaking like an Irishman, and look for "ye pot of gold." Who is responsible for the green beer?  Who knows, seems no one wants to admit that, for some odd reason they wanted to drink green-dyed beer.  Maybe the traditional St Patrick's Day beer, Guinness Stout, was too strong for them and not wanting fellow St Paddy's Day party-goers to know,  they dyed their light beer green. Green is the theme. So go all out with green beverages, food and decorations. Don't forget our favorite St Paddy's Day character – the leprechaun and his pot of gold. Love Is All You Need

Love is certainly in the air for the month of February. Valentine's Day is a major holiday for this month, so get romantic. Have you found that special gift yet? Want to find something truly special for your significant other, friend, family or yourself? Let Wedding and Party Network help you in finding creative and last minute gifts that they will love!

Gift Ideas For Him

  • Gift Basket Of Goodies – Fill up a basket or bucket with all his favorite items that you know he’ll enjoy. Take a beverage tub and fill it up with his favorite drinks, snacks and magazines for a lazy day around the house. If he loves his car, fill up a car-washing bucket of all the essentials to keep his ride looking like new.
  • Special Coupons – If you’re on a budget, get creative with Valentine’s Day coupons. Give your guy a coupon book featuring a coupon for one 5-minute back massage; one home cooked meal or a coupon for letting your guy have the remote for a night. He’ll definitely be taking full advantage of these Valentine’s Day coupons.
  • Take HIM Out To Dinner – Switch roles. Instead of the guy always paying; take him out to his favorite restaurant and you pay. Guys aren’t normally picky, so he’ll really enjoy that you let him pick out the restaurant and a bonus since you’re paying.

Gift Ideas For Her

  • Send Flowers – Again, nothing new. However, women LOVE getting flowers. There’s a bonus if you send them to work, so all her co-workers can be slightly jealous of what a sweet guy she has.
  • Weekend Getaway – Has she always talked about wanting to go somewhere? Plan it! Make a special trip to her favorite getaway spot. Blindfold her, take her to that special spot and make a big surprise out of it.
  • Day Of Fun – Girls love to shop, while most guys hate to shop. Therefore, take her shopping. Do no complaining, hold her bags & purse; let her pick the restaurant and have a special Valentine’s Day cake waiting on her when she gets home.

Gifts For Host/Hostess – If You Plan On Attending A Valentine’s Party

  • Gift Basket – Gift baskets are so fun and can be personalized to everyone. Fill this one up with a cute apron, gourmet food and their favorite wine. Except this time, fill up a mixing bowl or baking dish with these items.
  • Personalization – Everyone loves having monogrammed items. So personalize a platter, glass or apron towards their kitchen colors and name.
  • Chalkboard Art – Chalkboard paint is so fun! You can paint it on glassware, platters and boards to create a unique gift. Paint it on glasses so you can label the glasses with names or drinks. Create personalized plates or a chalkboard to display the menu.

These are all fun and unique gifts that everyone will truly enjoy for Valentine’s Day!

4 Inspired Ideas For A Glamorous Fall Wedding

The days of Summer will soon be coming to a close, which means fall is right around the corner.  So what better way to celebrate than with a fall wedding, right? There's so much you can do with the colors, centerpieces, favors and food to bring that seasonal element into your lavish wedding.  Here are a few irresistible fall trends that are so fun and chic!

Color Palette

Color can define the bride (You!) and the theme of your spectacular wedding.  It can set the tone you want to achieve at the wedding ceremony and reception.  With so many vibrant and luscious fall hues to pick from, you won't know where to begin.

First off, define you.  Are you the timeless, classic bride, the lavish bride or a little bit more modern?  Whatever personality style, there are rich color combos for every bride.  Browns, rich orange, yellows and deep reds fit a more classical bride.  A more luxuriously formal setting might include golds, metallic or luscious purples.  And for the more contemporary bride, you might go with black and burnt orange, yellow, or even Halloween colors!  You can even think outside-of-the-box to select the colors you want, maybe pairing shades of pink and yellow?

All these fall wedding colors sound amazing!  However, just remember to choose the colors that define you because that's what will make your wedding a huge success!

The cool breeze at your back, smell of freshly-grilled BBQ and the sea of team-colored jerseys could only mean one thing, football season!  Fire up those grills and pack those coolers full, because its time for tailgating!  Don't make your next tailgate a drab, fire it up with these four tailgating tips to make your game day a huge success.

Plan Ahead

A little simple planning can go a long way by setting aside ten minutes to decide what's on your tailgate agenda.  Decide what food, decorations and party supplies you'll need for the big game day.  If you're going to the game, remember to pack a large table for food and supplies, store food in plasticware containers for easy access and bring clean up supplies.  Are you going to make this a full out bash at home?  Send football-inspired invitations.  You can easily find personalized invitations online or make them yourself.  Add that tailgating feel in your very own backyard by setting up your lawn chairs, decorations, tables, food and games.  Also, check out your local party supplier for those essential gameday accessories for an easy setup.  Planning ahead will make your gameday a cinch.

The Do's & Don'ts of Kids Parties!

Children's parties can be a bit tough, even for a well-seasoned party host. This month, we are going to explore the do's and don'ts of children's parties.

Do Plan Some Type Of Entertainment Or Play Activity

One thing I cannot stress enough is have an activity planned for the children. Even a simple game of pin the tail on the donkey is a good planned activity for a kids party.  You may choose to hire cartoon characters or a magician as a way to entertain the children. You may even rent a big screen tv, so the children can play video games. Whatever you choose, the key is having some type of activity or type of entertainment for the kids.

Don't Be Afraid To Ask For Help

You will need to have a few adults on the party scene to watch the kids.  Don't be afraid to ask other parents to help watch over them.  Most parents will be glad to help out.  You can reciprocate when they throw the next kids party.

Do Expect A Few Messes And Some Tears

Kids will be kids, and the younger ones will spill and make messes.  Be prepared ahead of time to handle these situations. Here's a hint:  If you have the party at your home and you have lightly-colored carpet, don't serve red punch (the tears shed may be your own). Plan your party so that any mess or spilled punch won't matter.  You can always do an outdoor party or rent the local…
