You've had a beautiful wedding ceremony and now it's time to enjoy yourself at the wedding reception. So, what's one of the first things that guests notice as they walk into your beautiful wedding reception? Yes, they may check out and see what's to eat and take a look at how you've arranged everything, but they're mainly interested in the wedding cake. You need to have a wedding cake that represents the theme of your wedding and a cake that will wow them! So, as part of Wedding And Party Network's cake week, we've come up with a few ideas that will amaze your guests at your wedding.

Wedding Cupcakes – Instead of going with the traditional wedding cake, choose wedding cupcakes! Cupcakes are simply great for any event! You can feature them in a variety of flavors to suit everyone's taste and are designed to fit the theme of your wedding.

Plus, you won't have the added stress of trying to find someone to cut and serve the cake. You'll be able to feature, strawberry, vanilla, chocolate, red velvet, oreo, banana or butter pecan cupcakes to your guests, something that you wouldn't be able to do with a wedding cake. They make a wonderful bite sized cake that guests can pop into their mouth.

Miniature Wedding Cakes -Another great idea that your local baker can create is miniature wedding cakes. If you'd rather settle on a 2 tiered wedding cake, serve mini replicas of your wedding cake to guests. How cute would that be? You can feature different flavors to appease each guest and have it created to look like a wedding cake with a cake topper and all. If you're serving up lots of delicious food, you can place to-go boxes for the mini wedding cakes and they can serve as part of your wedding favors.

Cake Pops – If you want a delicious bite that guests can easily pop in their mouth while mingling, cake pops are a great idea! As part of cake week, we've featured the how-to video for cake pops below. They are extremely delicious and you can come up with lots of ideas to make them your own. First off, cake pops are cake with icing mixed into it which are then dipped into chocolate.

You can use milk chocolate, white chocolate or use food coloring to dye the white chocolate to fit your wedding colors. You can even press the cake mixture into miniature cookie cutters to create fun designs. Get a miniature wedding cake cutter and mold the cake into that and stick it on a lollipop stick. You can even decorate it with a cute little heart topper and sprinkles to make it look like a wedding cake even more.

Make It Your Own -The main thing to remember when designing your wedding cake is to always create with you in mind. If you're the traditional bride, stick with the traditional wedding cake and your colors. However, if that's just not who you are, create a wedding cake that fits you. Maybe purple and green are your favorite colors or you both enjoy a certain sport, incorporate it into your wedding cake. Remember, it's your wedding day.

These 4 wedding cake ideas are sure to amaze all your guests. Providing them with a tasty creation and a work of art will add such a great element to your wedding day. Always keep in mind that this is your day, therefore, design the wedding cake for you!

Summer is the time for weddings. Wonderful colors, flowers and the weather are just some of the things that makes this the ideal season for weddings. There are plenty of great reasons to plan your wedding for the summer.  However, along with everything else, there are downfalls. So, Wedding And Party Network is here to help with all your summer wedding planning needs. From the do's and don't's to tips and ideas, we've got all the wedding tips for a beautiful summer wedding.

A Few Tips

Along with summer comes the heat. You may be planning an early summer wedding, mid or late. However, you can never depend on the weather. It switches up daily and sometimes hourly, so you must be ready for the heat. Are you planning an outside wedding for the summer? Well, you may enjoy soaking up that vitamin c, but some guests may not or can't.

Therefore, you must offer something cool and relaxing for your guests to retreat to. A place where they will be able to relax and retreat from the hot sun. Prepare a beautiful white tent that provides shade, maybe even portable fans or air conditioning, that features tubs of ice-cold water and beverages. A possible fun feature that may fit your wedding theme, is featuring a fun lemonade stand or ice cream stand. How fun would that be! Plus, it would give a refreshing retreat from the weather.

Here are a few more tips for a summer wedding.

  • Don't forget the save-the-dates since summer is the ideal time for vacations.
  • Do serve a lighter meal for your wedding reception. Stay in season with salads, seasonal food & meats, fresh farm product & frozen cocktails.
  • Don't forget sun and bug protection since it's the season for these two items to be in full force.
  • Do dress cooler for the weather. Silks, linens, shorter wedding & bridesmaid dresses and breathable materials will help keep you, the groom and your bridal party refreshed.
  • Don't time your wedding to begin at the hottest part of the day, start your wedding later in the evening.

Summer Wedding Ideas

When planning your wedding, you should always sit down and figure out what type of wedding theme you'd like. With summer, you can go with a beach wedding theme, garden theme or a formal affair outside.

Next, think about your wedding flowers. You have so many varieties of flowers that are in season, it won't hurt to go with lots of flowers. Stick with bright and colorful flowers such as, gerbera daisies, yellow calla lilies, orchids, peonies or sunflowers. Stay with what's in season since there are a variety of beautiful flowers in season.

Don't forget about the wedding favors. Especially if you've planned an outdoor wedding and your guests have braved the heat. Send your guests home with potted flowers, fun floral seeds, flip-flops, sand dollars, seashells or fruit that's in season. Always keep in mind the theme of your wedding and what's in season. If you do this, you'll be sending your guests home with a lovely wedding favor they'll enjoy.

The main thing you want to keep in mind when planning your summer wedding is the heat. Summer is a great time to have your wedding, however, the heat is unpredictable. So, keep in mind these wedding tips and your wedding will be a dream come true.

Every Friday, Wedding and Party Network will be choosing a theme or color and give you inspirational photos. We want to help give you inspiration for your next event, wedding or party. So, take a look and we hope to give you a bit of inspiration when planning your wedding or party. Our inspirational board will give everyone inspiration for going green. When you think green, you may think of the color or being environmentally friendly. Whatever you think of, there are great ways to incorporate them into your wedding or next party.

When you think of March, you think St. Patrick's Day or the beginning of beautiful weather. March is the color for green with all the blooming flowers and St. Patrick's Day. So, incorporate that into your wedding or party. You can make green floral arrangements and pair it with pink, white or purple accents to make it pop even more. Create a green candy bar, use green party food or add green to your wedding cake or party cake. However, if you interpret "going green" into environmentally friendly you can use all the right resources to make sure you have a Eco-friendly party. E-vites, recyclable invitations, recyclable paper, reusable plates or Eco-friendly party favors will be great for a "green" wedding. So, incorporate green into your next event.

Everything has a meaning. The month of birthdays, holidays and even colors have different meanings that supposedly represent you as a person. They are said to represent who we are and what we stand for as a person. So when deciding your wedding colors, do they describe you and your style? What are all their meanings exactly? Do your favorite colors describe you? We all have one and are drawn to each one for a reason. Here's a fun post on the meanings behind your wedding colors!

Red: Oh red, the color of passion, anger, dramatic and desire. This color represents urges. For example, "I must have this" is a commanding urge. Red is a commanding color. This color can signify immediate gratification too. You are a bold and passionate person. With such a bright color, pair it down with white or black. Even turquoise too! Does this describe you?

Orange: When you think of orange, do you think bright, unique and not many people can wear orange? Orange is actually a toned down version of red. Orange is another power color and can stimulate creativity, enthusiasm and even the craving for food. It also represents the passionate urges like red, except mellowed down. If you are choosing orange for a color, you are truly passionate about what you do. So when used for a wedding, you must be extremely passionate about the person you are about to marry.

Sunny Yellow: Yellow is the color of the sun. Which represents cheerfulness, optimism, vitality and power. It's a beautiful color and can represent that you're truly loyal to your friendships. However, if yellow is your favorite color, it is sometimes interpreted that you like to use "I" a lot. This beautiful color can be paired well with whites, greens, or even navy. So pretty!

Green: First off, green represents money. Which is then interpreted to love. It represents life and abundance, such as trees, leaves or grass. Green represents true love. If you're using this in your wedding, you take more of a modern approach on your wedding or you're taking a more eco-friendly approach. Pair it with hot pink for a fun take or white for a more regal look. A beautiful color for a beautiful wedding.

Beautiful Blue: Blue represents clarity and charm. You like to be understood and are expressionistic in all things. When it comes to blue, different shades of blue can represent different meanings. For example, royal blue can be seen as grand a traditional. It reminds you of ballrooms. While, navy is a truly classical wedding. Blue is a beautiful color that everyone enjoys.

Perfectly Pink: If you're choosing a softer pink, it refers to playfulness and happiness. You have a sense of fun and a special fondness in your heart. A very playful color. However, if you're choosing a hot pink, it represents energy. A sense of girl power. Paired well with a variety of colors, whites, black and even green. Makes for a fun wedding color.

Purple: Purple represents imagination, challenging, mysterious and fantasy. It can inspire people to be a little coy or romantic. Again, different shades of purple can mean different things. Lavender represents soft, dainty and a lady-like personality. You can use these colors in many ways for weddings. Deep purple set the tone for a lavish wedding and pairs well with black or gray. While a lavender can be more of a simple, yet elegant wedding. Either way this color is absolutely beautiful.

White: The meaning of purity. It represents simplicity and spirituality. Such a beautiful, elegant color that can be paired well with many colors. You can take a more traditional take or even a more modern one. White is such an amazing color and is incorporated into everyone's wedding, unless you're going outside the box, with your white wedding dress.

Black: Black is the unknown, unseen, mysterious, sophistication and a strong opinion. It is the opposite of white. If black is your favorite color, you are more reserved. In a wedding, it represents pure sophistication. Black is seen as formal. A color that can be paired with any color and still match is definitely black. You can play it up or down and is a popular color trend in weddings. Looks great in bridesmaid's dresses and even in your wedding decorations.

Do your wedding colors suit you best? All colors mean a variety of things. So choose the one that YOU love the most and that fits your wedding theme. Whatever color you choose will absolutely fit your personality, style and theme of your wedding.
