Trending Tuesday – Choose Your Own Dress

We've all been there, atleast a good majority of us. We've been asked to be in a wedding and we're absolutely thrilled until we see our bridesmaid dress. Not that the dress is absolutely awful, just not our own personal style. Bridesmaids will be thankful for this popular trend that is occurring. Brides are letting their bridesmaids pick their own dress within a certain color palette. There are rules, which is understandable. The bride may provide you with a fabric swatch so you can compare the color of your gown to that particular swatch. Also, the bride may offer some helpful guidelines for the length, neckline, embellishments as well as heel height. Yes, this may be a tad bit difficult when finding your dress but if this is something you are going to invest in, wear again and everyone be happy, it's a win win.

Wedding trends are constantly changing and everything within weddings goes through this. Bride's tastes change and so do the elements of weddings. Bridesmaid dresses are constantly changing styles and colors. Lengths range from long, tea length to short and the colors are all over the place. Same Color, Different Styles
Just Pick – You pick the color or color palette and they pick the style. Not every girl feels comfortable in the same style of dress since everyone shares different body types. Therefore, let them pick their own. Your bridesmaids will feel more comfortable and confident in your wedding and be more willing to shell out the money since they could wear their dress again. Plus, it's so refreshing seeing weddings that features bridesmaid dresses in different styles and even different colors. Not everything has to be truly matchy matchy.

Pick shorter dresses in a color they'll be able to wear again for different occasions. If you want to go long, think about their options to even shorten the dress so they can wear it to a spring or summer occasion. Keep in mind their ability to wear it again. Sorry to say, your bridesmaids won't be wearing their big shoulder, short sleeve in an Easter egg pastel color dress anytime soon, unless that look comes back in style, and that may be awhile.

Think About The Shoes – Letting them find their own style doesn't just pertain to the dress, think about their shoes too. We say opt out of the dye able wedding shoes that match their dress perfectly in a purple, teal or orange, which they will never wear again and focus on going with metallic or nude. Going with a metallic silver, gold or a neutral colored shoe ensures that they can wear it with different outfits that they may have in their closet.

Accessories – Another thing that goes with completing your bridesmaids look is accessories. Accessories complete their look. You can either go with them wearing what they want to show off their personality or picking something truly simple.

There are different trends within bridesmaid dresses, including short vs. long, style or what color to wear. However, unless you're buying, it's great to let bridesmaids pick out their own dress so they can wear it again and show off a bit of their personality.

Wedding Trend: Let the Bridesmaids Choose Their Dresses

Can you recall a bridesmaid dress that you loved so much you wore it again? Me neither. And despite what you said when you were trying it on ("Oh, of course I can totally wear it again!"), you probably never will.

However, despite what you may have sworn to yourself as you were standing at the altar wearing an Easter egg-hued gown, the temptation to make your friends do the same thing still exists when it's your turn to plan a wedding. Here's what to do:

On behalf of your friends, your wedding photos, and your checkbook, I say let the bridesmaids choose their gowns. There are several ways to do this:

1. Give them a selection. Many formal wear businesses offer one gown in many modified styles. For example, they may take a traditional A-line red dress and offer it with straps, without straps, tea length, or with a wrap. Your bridesmaids can then choose the fit in which they feel the most comfortable.

2. Choose a color. Many brides today leave it to their bridesmaids to choose their dresses, as long as they are a certain color, often black. Others may also dictate the length. Bridesmaids can then go to their favorite retail store, a formal wear store, or visit their closets to find something that fits the bill.

3. Choose a theme. If you're having a destination wedding or a ceremony with a theme, let your bridesmaids know in plenty of time so they can come up with outfits to suit your theme.

It may be a a bigger challenge for you to let go of some of the decision making, but your bridesmaids will have a dress that they not only feel comfortable in, but will wear again!
