The weather is warm, the sun is shining down and it's time to get out of the house and plan an outdoor party. During this beautiful weather, who doesn't love getting out of the house and hosting a party with their friends and family? There are so many different parties that you can host with great decor and activities. However, you may think it may be a lot of work hosting several parties. It's not. Wedding and Party Network has a few tips and ideas for you to host a truly successful outdoor party.

  1. Set up food and drink stations around the yard. This encourages your guests to walk around and mingle. You can set up a fruit buffet, appetizer table, lemonade, tea, drink station and you can even set up a non-alcoholic and alcohol drink station.
  2. Have bug spray, sunscreen and maybe even some spray fans stationed at a table outdoors. Yes, with the warmer weather brings the heat and bugs. Therefore, offer them all the essentials that may need.
  3. Serve healthy and simple snacks as well. Yes, you may have food to serve, however, it may not be as healthy. Therefore, offer up simple and healthy snacks in a basket so they can snack on those throughout the night.
  4. Don't forget about the food covers. Of course, if you're hosting a party outdoors, bugs can be a problem. They are attracted to the food and no one wants bugs on their food. Therefore, use mesh food covers. You can find them almost anywhere and some places even have them in unique and fun designs.
  5. A great addition to any party is some sort of tent or a designated spot for kids to play. You can set up some toys, books, coloring station or even set up a television to keep them occupied throughout the night. They'll really enjoy this.
  6. Skip out on the standard paper towels, plates and utensils. Use cute little tea towels and mix and match colorful plates. This makes your party a bit more "green".
  7. Feature a tub of warm, soapy water or a station of wet wipes set up for people to wash their hands in. This is great for the adults when they are ready to eat or just feel kinda yucky after all the sunscreen and bug spray. Plus, it's also great for the children, since they are a bit more prone to get a little dirty.
  8. Prepare as much food as you can in advance. You don't want to run around all morning and during the party trying to prepare all the food you need. However, you can also hire a caterer if you would like to, they have a variety of recipes. If you plan on cooking the food yourself, make a list of what can be prepared early and how early. A lot of dishes you can prepare two days before and they'll last until the party, they may even be better since you're letting the flavors mix better.

When planning your outdoor party, keep in mind these tips. It will truly make your party run more efficiently and once you prepare these items, you'll have them for the next one. So, get party ready with these helpful tips.

Volume 3 Issue 1

It's the start of a new year and you may have a big event coming up, like your wedding day! Congratulations on that holiday engagement and get ready to start planning your wedding. It's an overwhelming process, yet it should be absolutely fun. This is one of the biggest moments of your life. However, don't feel as if you have to stick to a strict planning process. It's all about making this day your own. Wedding and Party Network is providing you with a list of rules that you DON'T have to follow. Make your wedding day represent you!

Rule #1 – The walk down the aisle is not reserved for Dads only. Yes, it is tradition and most brides wouldn't have it any other way. However, it may be more complicated for the bride's dad to walk her down the aisle for whatever reasons. Choose someone who has been a strong and supportive role in your life. A person in your life that would make you ecstatic sharing that walk down the aisle with.

Rule #2 – Seeing the bride before the ceremony is an absolute no. However, that's not the case anymore. It's been considered bad luck to see the bride before the wedding, and if you're wanting to stick with tradition than that's great. Some brides are wanting to capture that "first look" on camera. It's a cute moment and a private moment shared between the bride and groom, instead of all their guests. Plus, it gives brides more time to capture photos before the ceremony instead of after.

Rule #3 – Your wedding party must all match. Not the case anymore. While matching bridesmaid dresses are great, think out-of-the-box and have your bridesmaids where different styled bridesmaid dresses or different colored dresses that are in the same color family. Some dresses look better on some bridesmaids, while not so great on others. This gives them the option to feel comfortable and even wear their dress again. Plus, your wedding will stand out and everyone will look great.

Rule #4 – You absolutely must have a garter and bouquet toss. Not so much. Your single friends are not a fan of being singled out and ushered to the middle of the dance floor to try to catch the wedding bouquet or garter. You can still play a game, like the Newlywed Shoe Game.

Rule #5 – Honeymoons must be taken right after the wedding. Again, a lot of couples are opting to take their honeymoon a few weeks after, if not months after. All that stress of the wedding and then hurrying around trying to clean up and say bye to guests is a lot. So, some couples are taking it all in and enjoying it minute by minute by not having to be on a time constraint. Plus, you can save your money longer to take a better honeymoon.

Remember, don't feel confined to tradition. Plan your wedding for what works best for you and put your own personality in it.

Let Your Holiday Party Stand Out

So many times you host a holiday party and it's the same each year. Why not switch it up this year? It's always fun to make some changes to your traditional holiday party. It doesn't have to be anything major, but a few simple switch ups can make your party stand out even more. We've got a few holiday party tips that you can incorporate into this year's party.

Party Colors – Instead of the traditional green and red, why not update it to the latest holiday color trends? You can choose from red and aqua, natural inspired Christmas, winter white and blue or bright and colorful pinks and blues. By just switching up the color of your party, it can make a huge difference.

Decorations – If you change-up your colors, you must find decorations to match the theme. Ornaments are great decor besides being just for the tree. You can string fishing line through them and hang them from windows or chandeliers. Fill vases with ornaments for centerpieces as well. Don't forget to use candles throughout your party and flowers for beautiful centerpieces. No need to go over the top in decorations, when you can use beautiful flowers, a few ornaments and candles to set the mood of your party.

Holiday Food - If you normally do finger foods and appetizers for your party, think about switching it up to a sit-down dinner, potluck or cookie exchange. If you decide on a sit-down dinner, think about having your local caterer prepare the holiday feast. That way you can focus more on decorating or creating your favorite holiday appetizers or desserts. Even setting up the food or dessert table featuring different heights, fun shaped platters or colors can help change-up a party.

Instead of hosting your basic, traditional holiday party this year, think about switching it up.

Are you in the process of planning out your Thanksgiving dinner? It can be stressful, especially if you're hosting the whole family at your house. You want this day to be about family and sharing everlasting memories together. Therefore, in your mind, everything should be perfect. However, don't stress over this day. Wedding and Party Network has some stress free planning tips for hosting your Thanksgiving dinner.

Plan Ahead – This is a MAJOR part when hosting a Thanksgiving feast. Sit down and write out who's coming. That way, you know how much food to prepare, and how many place settings you need at the table.

  • Planning The Grocery List – Once you know how many people are attending, you will know exactly what to cook and how much. You can stay away from certain dishes if someone doesn't like a particular item or if they're allergic, and be sure to prepare all their favorites. Once you have a menu, you can plan your grocery list.
  • Cooking – Once you have the menu planned out, you can create a timeline of cooking. Not all dishes have to be prepared that same day, some can be prepared the day before. So, plan it out so you're not trying to cook everything at once with limited space and hands.
  • Decorating – Of course, you have to have decorations during this time of year. However, plan a few weeks in advance and start decorating your home then. Your fall decorations will carry over into this holiday too. Don't forget to visit your local florist to discuss what type of centerpiece you would like as well.

Planning Thanksgiving dinner at your house doesn't have to be stressful. Just keep the main component in mind, which is PLAN AHEAD.

Treat or Treating Tips

We all love trick or treating and loading up on yummy candy. However, now you must always be cautious during this time, yet still make it an enjoyable for everyone. So, Wedding and Party Network has some safety tips for this Halloween to make it fun and safe.

Route – Make sure to plan your route out in advance. Plan out who you will visit, like family members or friends and route out familiar neighborhoods. It's best to know whose door you're knocking on.

Rules of the Road - First off, always go with your children, but remind them the rules of the road. Always enforce traffic rules, like look both ways before crossing, obey traffic laws and use cross walks.

Stranger Danger – Even though you have your eyes on them, it only takes a second for a stranger to come up and take them. That is why you need to always remind them of stranger danger safety tips.

Costume Safety -Don't forget to focus on making sure your child's costume isn't a safety hazard. Keep costumes from dragging on the ground so they're not tripped,

When In Doubt - Throw it away. We are all aware of the dangers that candy can contain. So, if you're nervous about how something looks or you're not sure what's in it; throw it away.

Now, it's time to celebrate Halloween with a ghoulish themed party that will be one to remember.

Tips For Popping The Question

The first step to getting engaged is getting asked. Your future fiancé has to get the courage up and ask you the big question. We all know that can be a nerve wrecking question to ask. So, Wedding and Party Network has a few tips for the groom when popping the question.

Asking – If you're planning on asking the big question, consider asking for her hand in marriage. It's tradition. Of course, if it's this serious that you're planning on asking, you've probably had discussions about marriage and what it means to you. She has also probably mentioned if it's a big deal if you ask for her hand in marriage. So, if she wants to follow that tradition, make sure you honor her wishes.

The Ring – The most important part, the engagement ring. A girl has dreamed about her engagement ring since she was a little girl. If you don't want to give it away, ask her family and closest friends what she has always dreamed about. She may have left you hints too. The main thing is to put some thought into what type of ring she wants, and actually have a ring. Even in tough times, an heirloom or even a temporary ring until she can pick out what she likes will do.

The Proposal – The second most important part of an engagement is how you propose. There are endless possibilities on how to propose, just make it original. You're asking her to be your wife, this is one of the most important times of your life. Therefore, make it special and memorable.

One Knee – Of course, you may think it's cliché. However, every girl wants you to get down on one knee. So, just go ahead and get over it and get down on one knee!

Family Involvement – Get both sides of the family involved. Again, this is a very important part of your life, so get both families involved. They want to be apart of this joyous time. After she says yes, have a surprise engagement party at her favorite restaurant with both families and even a few close friends there to celebrate.

Don't forget to RELAX! Yes, asking can be extremely nerve wrecking, however, it's such an important moment. So, don't forget to relax and take every second of it in.

Summer is coming to an end, and it's back to school time for children of all ages. Get kids excited and help them start school on the right foot with a great relationship with their new teacher. However, how can you get kids pumped up for the new school year? Well, Wedding and Party Network has a few tips and ideas to get everyone back to school ready.

Back To School Bash

Who doesn't enjoy a party? Kids of all ages will get in the back to school spirit with a big bash. It's saying goodbye to summer and welcoming a fun-filled school year. You'll find great ideas that will get everyone ready. The main purpose of this party is to get everyone ready, including mentally and stocking them with all the supplies they need.

Decorations – You don't need extravagant party decorations, just use items that are related to school. You'll most likely already have these items around the house. Create simple flower arrangements with daisies and instead of water, fill the vase with alphabet magnets. Set out books as centerpieces, you can even stack the books to create different heights for your centerpieces. If you are looking for something unique, use pencils, pens, apples and rulers to create centerpieces.

Party FoodMake it a brown bag special. Again, nothing over-the-top for this party. When you think of food at school, think about the lunches that kids take with them. Set out lunch boxes with the kid's name on it and fill it with apple slices, celery sticks and sandwiches. The lunch box will even serve as a party favor for them to take home.

Party Activities – Buy school supplies and let the kids decorate their own. Pencil boxes, backpacks, notebooks, lunch boxes and planners can all be decorated. Let them show off their individual style at school.

Your back to school party doesn't have to be decked out in decorations and food. Keep it simple for this party. Get kids in school mode with these fun activities. They'll be absolutely excited for their first day and have a wonderful year to look forward too.
