Drive-in Movie Party

February 7th, 2008 - Posted by Jamie Adams

Throwing a party for a teenager can be a challenge. It is so hard to know what is cool and what isn’t. But almost every teenager loves going to the movies. It isn’t always feasible to take your child and his/her friends to the movies. Instead, bring the movies to your backyard.

Create your own “drive-in” theater in your backyard by renting a movie projector and a screen. Help you teenager pick out a movie that will be fun for everyone.

Send “movie ticket” invitations and have them present the tickets at the door as admission to the movie. Your teenager’s friends will get a kick out of watching a movie on the big screen outside.

Hand out blankets and lawn chairs and allow guests to create their own viewing areas. While you are waiting on the movie to start, play a game of movie trivia. Before the movie starts pass out 3-D glasses or other movie party favors. Serve typical movie fare such as nachos, hotdogs and popcorn. Let each party-goer have his or her own personalized bucket of popcorn. Fill tubs with ice and soda; allowing the kids to help themselves to their favorite beverage. Keep ice cream treats cold in tubs of ice. Trays may be handy to help kids take their goodies to their seat. Buy movie-type candy in bulk and fill sandwich bags with individual servings.

At intermission have the kids play a game of movie charades. This game should get everyone laughing; as they watch others try to act out their favorite movie scene. Your teenager and his/her friends will have so much fun at their own private “Drive-in” movie party.

This teenage party theme will make your house the coolest place to be.
