Throwing A Fun Gingerbread House Decorating Party

November 28th, 2008 - Posted by Brynn Jackson

There’s nothing quite as festive and entertaining during the Christmas season as entertaining friends and family with a fun party. Sometimes the trick to great hosting is having the unique party theme that stands out from the others. Well you have that this year thanks to a great gingerbread house decorating party!

Grab your friends together or invite your children’s friends over to make a gingerbread house using delicious gingerbread cookies, colorful icing, candy buttons and other sweet treats. You might end up covered in icing and cookie dough crumbles, but it’ll create a multitude of fun and photo-worthy stories.

So what goes into this party theme? Well, lots of gingerbread house accessories of course! Find the gingerbread cookie recipe that you like the best and make sure to buy plenty of ingredients in case one batch doesn’t quite pan out. Next, gather together friends and family around a large table and begin assembling the pieces. There are many websites that will tell you exactly how to build a gingerbread house. Whether creating a traditional gingerbread house or one that has extra flair, there’s a set of instructions out there.

When building gingerbread houses with children, be sure to let the children play a major part in decorating their gingerbread houses. Not only does this stimulate creativity, but it also makes them feel important, gets them excited, and creates a lifetime of special memories.

Once all of the gingerbread houses are assembled and dried, it’s clean up time! Be sure to snap lots of photographs so that everyone can show off their special creations. Want even more fun? Try making it a contest! Don’t forget the invitations to your gingerbread house party! What a sweet way to announce the fun!

Eat, laugh, and enjoy!
