This month Wedding And Party Network is featuring creative baby shower cake photos. These photos are so crisp and clear that they make you want to reach into them and cut off a slice for yourself. If you're in the market for a baby shower cake, grab fresh ideas from these photos!

#5 Pink Baby Shower Cake For Girl

Girl's Baby Shower Cake
Girl's Baby Shower Cake
This was actually the baby shower cake for a young lady who works with Wedding And Party Network. We can honestly say that every bite was delicious. One tier of chocolate, one of French vanilla. Mmm.

To make it fitting of a baby shower for a little girl, buttercream icing was used with pink icing accents. A pink rubber ducky, mini bunny slippers and other fun cake decorations were used as well.

#4 Twin Girls Baby Shower Cake

This is a favorite because of the creativity of the baker. Creating a baby shower cake for twin girls can be a challenge but this baker did well! She created a two tiered cake decorated with pink and white frosting.

For emphasis Ana created two cookie suckers and decorated these with pink and white frosting. She spelled out the girls' names on each cookie as well. What a great way to celebrate two new lives!

#3 Green & Yellow Baby Shower Sheet Cake

This animal baby shower cake is one tier of jungle fun for the guests. Gumpaste animal figurines in the shape of a lion, rhinoceros and a stork delivering a baby are used to complete the top tier decorations.

A large second tier is also surrounded with gumpaste figurines in jungle animal shapes. Blue icing is used to decorate the top tier, though pink could be used for a girl. Yellow icing (a very neutral color where babies are concerned) lines each tier beautifully.

#1 Bassinet Baby Shower Cake For A Girl

Bassinet Baby Shower Cake

Bassinet baby shower cakes are very popular. This bassinet party cake took many hours to create and only a few minutes to enjoy.

The details are incredible. The little girl's name (Teryn) is written into the pillow. A teddy bear is placed where the little girl would be cradling it. Most of the cake is covered in a pink blanket made of fondant and touched with frilly accents. This cake is irresistibly sweet in so many ways.

Little Rock Shines For Wedding Cakes Also!

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009 - Posted by Brynn Jackson

I recently read Rob discuss birthday cakes for people in Little Rock, Arkansas. However, Little Rock shines for more than just their birthday cakes. Local bakeries in The Rock also make some to-die-for wedding cakes. How do I know? Glad you asked!

Living only a few hours away, I've been to many weddings in Little Rock. What stood out and what still stands out from each is the wedding cake. I've tasted so many different varieties of wedding cakes that it's almost easy to tell the bakeries apart. I've tried buttercream and fondant icings. I've had tall wedding cakes, short ones, skinny ones, fat ones and the whole gammut in between.

Why Little Rock AR Wedding Cakes Are So Special

I've been to many other weddings across the country and I can honestly say that I've never put a better wedding cake in my mouth than a few I've tried in Little Rock. It's not just because I'm an Arkansan that I find my tastes to be biased. It's simply because Little Rock bakeries who specialize in wedding cakes put the most heart into their products. They want you to feel what they felt when making it.

They want you to taste the passion that surrounds you at the wedding. They want your tongue to experience the blissful flavor of life that just can't be escaped. Little Rock wedding cake bakeries have a grasp on what it takes to make the perfect wedding cake bar none. If that sounds good for your palette, wet your whistle with some champagne and wash down a piece of the city's best kept secrets.

What Type of Wedding Cake Is Popular In Baton Rouge?

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009 - Posted by Brynn Jackson

Ask The Celebration Advisor: I live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I'm getting married here but I'm not from here so I have no idea what to expect when I go to pick out my wedding cake. What kind of wedding cakes do people like around here? Thanks ~ Geneva

The Celebration Advisor: First of all, congratulations on your wedding Geneva! How exciting! As far as popular wedding cakes in Baton Rouge go, your best bet is to go with what you like. That sounds a little generic, I'm sure, but I'd actually advise any bride to go with her gut first. For example, you may be crazy about carrot cake but it's not very popular in Baton Rouge. If that's the case, go with what you want and give your guests a thrill because it's a rarity at local weddings. Everyone wins. *smile*

If you're thinking more along the lines of popular flavors of wedding cakes for Baton Rouge LA brides, here are some ideas to consider:

  • French culture is big in Baton Rouge LA so go with rich, creamy icings such as vanilla buttercream.
  • Think French Vanilla cake or icing. It's a warmer scent and a more sensual flavor.
  • Traditional wedding cake flavors such as white, golden butter, chocolate and confetti are popular.

It's Baton Rouge so play off of the atmosphere of the city that most people instantly think of. As Baton Rouge is one of the larger southern cities, you can play off of southern heritage and find a Baton Rouge bakery willing to make a wedding cake with an antebellum feel. You can play off of the French heritage and go with something more decadent. Whatever you choose, make sure to make it yours. It's your wedding so have fun with it and go with what your gut–or rather your tummy–tells you.

Customizable Birthday Cakes of Gulfport Mississippi

Wednesday, July 15th, 2009 - Posted by Rob Gulliver

Ask The Celebration Advisor: My boyfriend has a birthday coming up and I was trying to figure out what type of cake to get him. We live in Gulfport, MS and I want to know what options bakeries offer when making a birthday cake. -Jessica

The Celebration Advisor: You cant go wrong with the professionalism and creativity of bakeries in Gulfport, MS. Birthday cakes come with numerous amounts of customizable options and the bakeries that create them add a flair to their creations not typically seen in Grandma's kitchen.

When deciding what kind of cake you want to have for a birthday, you must first consider the personality of the recipient, then the atmosphere in which it is presented. Birthday Cakes are a great way to show that you appreciate the person whose birthday it is, and there is no better way to do this than to present them with a cake depicting one of their favorite activities. For a guy, some great birthday cake ideas are:

  • Sports Team
  • Guitar Design
  • Camo-design
  • Milestone
  • Humorous

There is a time and a place for presenting a humorous birthday cake. Some birthdays are formal events requiring a cake as dapper as it's guests. However for those birthdays with a loose crowd, a humorous birthday cake will no doubt bring smiles to everyone's face.

Birthday Cakes are arguably one of the most customizable (and delicious) confectionery goods made. The options bakers in Gulfport would have for a cake range from its size, to the flavor of the cake, to the flavored filling and the decor on top. Even the shape of the cake can be altered to resemble an object that is close to the recipient such as their favorite dog, a car, a graduation cap, or a poker table with little frosting cards can all be portrayed on a cake.

There are many great bakeries in the Gulfport area, and you may contact them by visiting our directory for bakeries and pastry shops that make birthday cakes. I hope that you find just what your looking for in a customizable cake for your boyfriend, and that it looks so good no one will want to cut into it.

5 Hot Wedding Cake Trends For 2009

Friday, April 3rd, 2009 - Posted by Jordon Robinson

There are several wedding cake trends gaining popularity this year. These high fashion fondant creations are sure to catch the eye of every guest and make mouths water from miles around. Consider these ideas when meeting with your wedding cake consultant.
1. Black and White Pattern Wedding Cakes. It seems everywhere you look you'll see the Parisian wallpaper trend. So, why not in the wedding scene? This design is very elegant and quite stunning on a round tiered wedding cake. To blend this trend in with your other wedding decorations, use the pattern on other things such as napkins or tablecloth overlays.

2. CHOCOLATE!!! Forget traditional vanilla, switch it up! This year several brides are choosing dark chocolate truffle wedding cakes with beautiful detail and glamour. Give chocolate a chance! If you’re scared of the rich flavor, serve fruit along side such as raspberries or strawberries.

3. No Flowers Needed Just Crisp Details. Arts and crafts has gone chic in the wedding world this year. Crisp lines, exposed stitching and seamstress inspired details top the cake trends this season. Add detail to a light hued cake with vintage fondant buttons and fancy piping for a high fashion quilted look.

4. No Ordinary Shape Will Do. Brides are exploring their wedding cake shape options cakes this year. Oval tiers, cube tiers, and even asymmetric tiers (this can be complicated). These new styles are fresh and creative ways to spice up the otherwise ordinary cake shapes. Some of these new styles do compromise the amount of cake you get. So these might be great ideas for small, intimate weddings.

5. Small Makes A Big Statement. All the rage this year, mini cakes have become popular practically overnight. These mini cakes or personal cakes are part of the wedding decor. They surround the wedding cake and are adorned with a contrasting color to create a visual delight and a tasty treat. Mini cakes can also become gifts for guests. Package these cakes in favor boxes to send home with guests for wedding favors. (Two bird’s with one stone!)

Take these ideas along when you meet with your wedding cake consultant or baker and explore the options of a high fashion wedding cake for your 2009 wedding! Happy eating!
