Formal Wedding Invitations 101

Thursday, July 30th, 2009 - Posted by Rob Gulliver

Ask The Celebration Advisor: I read your post about "laid back" wedding invitations from a few days ago. I am needing to choose out wedding invitations for my own wedding however I am looking for ones that are bit on the formal side. Do you have any suggestions for finding them in Lincoln, NE?

The Celebration Advisor: There is a great selection of different types of wedding invitations in Lincoln. Styles that would be fitting for any and all types of weddings. Even for a more formal wedding such as yours, there is an invitation design that will complement perfectly.

Wedding invitations that exude confidence and a higher level of formality are considered to be in the genre of classic invitations. Typically a classic wedding invitation uses colors of pure white and ivory that have, through history, signified the bride's virginity. However in our modern culture, we see these colors to signify joy. Many brides recently have also opted for the use of more color in their invitations originating from non-European ethnic traditions. An example of this would be pale pastels or a golden deep-champagne tint.

A classic, more formal wedding invitation typically does not have much detail as to not distract readers from the intended message. However at the same time not altogether void of pictures. Sometimes printed on the card can be small hearts or a creative border to frame your gracious words of welcome. As borders go, some may be colored and are typically not solid lines. Another creative way to keep a border and maintain the white theme is to look at wedding invitations with embossed frames. This gives the design some depth and the finished product looks quite immaculate.

Lincoln has many stationary stores that carry all types of creative invitations for birthdays, graduation and weddings. You will no doubt be able to scout out the wedding invitation that best suits the formality of a traditional wedding. Good luck on your endeavors as they will surely pay off.

Houma Wedding Invitations : A Reflection of Our Past

Sunday, July 26th, 2009 - Posted by Rob Gulliver

Ask the Celebration Advisor: My girlfriend has left me in charge of looking for wedding invitations in Houma, LA. However I don't understand why invitations are so detailed. Why cant we mail regular cards as an alternative? -Brandon

The Celebration Advisor: There are certainly many different styles of wedding invitations available in Houma. So many that the task of selecting the perfect one may seem daunting. And understandably there is a bit of confusion with the significance of each component one has. However wedding invitations as we know them today have accumulated certain attributes because of imperfections in the delivery systems of our past.

At one time the early postal service of America was not as trusted. This is why people used to send wedding invitations in two envelopes. The addresses were written on the exterior envelope which serve as protection for the interior envelope. This would contain the wedding invitation that would be given to the head of the household. Thankfully our modern postal service is much more trustworthy however the tradition of a double envelope still stands.

The small piece of tissue paper included in a wedding invitation is also a tradition formed from our past. Metal printing techniques of the 1600s would leave the ink on an invitation easy to smear. The purpose of the piece of tissue paper was to provide protection to the rest of the card as well as maintain the message printed. Even though modern printing techniques have vastly improved, invitations still traditionally include a piece of decorative tissue paper.

Wedding invitations from Houma, LA are vast in the number of styles available. Some of which include traditional, contemporary, destination, Christian and formal. It is typical for an invitation to match the decor and theme of a wedding. So before selecting a proper one, you need to establish what decor and colors will be present at the wedding.

Houma wedding invitations have a touch of history and artistic creativity you both will find more than appealing. It is great that you have taken upon yourself to organize this step for you girlfriend and your selection of invitations will most likely gain you a few points in her book.

Feel Distinguished with Your Mobile, AL Wedding Invitations

Friday, July 24th, 2009 - Posted by Rob Gulliver

Ask the Celebration Advisor: I am from Mobile, AL and am helping my friend find suitable wedding invitations for her wedding. What are some customizable options for invitations that will get guests excited for her big day? - Dawn

The Celebration Advisor: Wedding invitations are one of the most important obligations for a bride and groom to decide upon for their wedding. They give friends and family a heads up to the big day and give an opportunity for the bride (and the bride's friends in this case) to explore their creativity. Wedding invitations in Mobile, AL come in many various colors, designs and themes to match the personalities of the bride and groom to be.

The style of invitation you choose will sometimes reflect the theme and mood of the wedding. A few styles of wedding invitations include:

  • Floral
  • Contemporary
  • Destination
  • Christian

For instance if the wedding is to take place on a beach, the a destination invitation depicting tropical birds, palm tree, and sea shells would be very fitting.

With the style chosen, you will also have to consider many different colors, text styles, and texture of paper. Available colors for wedding invitations come in no short supply and the text styles will convey elegance and formality. Paper used to construct the card can vary from a rough, unfinished texture to smooth and glossy. Really each of these options further distinguish the invitations as your very own.

Don't hesitate to add your own personal creative touches as well. The bride can choose to handwrite a personal note in each card or include an engagement photo. Also adding a special ribbon to the exterior of the card could dress it up and ensure no two brides will share the same invitation this season.

I hope you both find the perfect wedding invitation in Mobile, AL. Remember that invitations come in numerous styles. And if conformity is an issue, then by adding your own personal touches guests will feel a certain uniqueness in your personalized cards.

Wedding Invitation Help for Ragin' Baton Rouge Cajuns

Thursday, July 16th, 2009 - Posted by Rob Gulliver

Ask the Celebration Advisor: My fiancé and I are from Baton Rouge, LA and we had a question about wedding invitations. What do we have as far as customizable options go and what would be the appropriate time to send them? -Casey

The Celebration Advisor: Wedding invitations are a very important aspect of a wedding. They add a touch of elegance to your special date. The recipients of your invite are more than likely to put it up on the fridge because the wedding invitation itself is a piece of art. Though daunting the task may seem, deciding an invitation design has never been easier when Wedding Invitations from Baton Rouge bridal shops come in no short supply.

Once I began to look at a few members from our website that carry wedding invitations, I realized that there are literally thousands of variations to choose from. They come in different sizes, shapes, color and countless styles. Whats important is that you make your invitation your own and that it fits the overall theme of your wedding. It is easy with the amount of styles available to accomplish this. For events in Baton Rouge, a few wedding invitation styles include:

  • Contemporary
  • Western
  • Christian
  • Classic
  • Seasonal

To address your question about sending the invitations at the appropriate time, it is a matter of etiquette. Typically couples should send out notifications that include save-a-date cards,  and travel accommodations 3-4 months ahead of time, then send the wedding invitations 6-8 weeks before the big day.

With all the choices available for wedding invitation styles, you are sure to find what you need in Baton Rouge. I hope your wedding goes well and your invitations help give relatives and friends a taste of what is to come.
