When planning your wedding party's attire for your special day, one piece you should make sure not to overlook is the outfit for your flower girl! She is already cute, but her attire will add to the overall look of your wedding. Here are 3 tips when choosing her attire!

1. Color
When  choosing the color of your flower girl's attire, it's important to know that you don't have to stick to a specific color scheme. White and pastels are the classic go-to color as well as your wedding colors, but you can also consider a lighter or darker version of your wedding colors to make your flower girl really stand out.

2. Outift
A beautiful dress is a great way to go, but if you are looking to wow, how about a ballerina tutu? Do you have a garden theme wedding? Consider adding pretty fairy wings to make your little one smile!

3. Comfort
Something you definitely want to keep in mind when choosing the flower girl outfit is how comfortable a little girl will feel in her attire. Is it a long dress that she might trip over? Does it have sequence that will itch? Will she able to move in it all night? You want to make sure that your flower girl is comfortable in her attire, so she can also enjoy the party!

Wedding Tip of the Week: Engagement Party Do's and Don'ts

Recently engaged? Congrats! You are about to embark on a fantastic journey to your happily ever after. But there is one event that kicks off the crazy planning–your engagement party! Here are some simple do's and don'ts so your engagement celebration goes without a hitch!

Don't Assume Party Hosts
It is tradition that the bride's parents usually throw this celebration, but that is now not always the case. Make sure to double check with each set of parents and even consider letting both sets throw you a party! Don't forget that friends can throw you one too!

Do Give a Guest List
Normally those invited to the engagement party expect an invitation to the actual wedding shindig. Make sure to give your party host a guest list so no one's feelings get hurt!

Don't Make It Too Formal
The engagement party is usually a casual affair. There are plenty of wedding events that will call for the formal attire (like the wedding)!

Do Get Thank You Cards
While it's not always expected to give a gift at the engagement party, many do like to bring a little something. Make sure to prepare a registry, just in case, and thank you cards.

Wedding Tip of the Week – Wedding Attire For Guests

Knowing what to wear to a wedding can sometimes be tricky, even if it is on the invitation. We’ve got some tips for you to make the hunt for the perfect wedding outfit a little less stressful.

Formal/Black Tie – Optional

For her, opt for a floor length dress or knee-length. Make sure not to go too short. For him, a tux or a dark colored suit is always best.

Semi Formal

If the dress code is semi-formal, ladies can take it down a notch and wear a cocktail dress. Another idea is skirt and shirt combo. Again, be wise when deciding on the length of your dress or skirt, too short is never a good idea. For him, you can wear a light colored suit and possibly ditch the jacket.

Casual

If the dress code is more casual, wear something more relaxed. For her, that could be a sundress with some jewelry to make it pop. For him, khakis and a nice button-up shirt would be a good choice. Don’t forget that it is still a wedding, so make it stand out from what you usually wear.  

Beach

Don’t be scared to get a little sand and water between your toes here. For her, choose a flowy maxi dress or a nice casual dress, possibly in brighter colors. For him, a linen suit or shirt with khaki shorts or pants is a good option. If not a fan of linen, go for something else but keep the neutral colors such as blue, grey, and beige.

A general rule to always remember is that it is always better to dress up too much rather than too little. Make sure to keep an eye out for the wedding colors (such as on the invitation) and avoid wearing those colors at the event. Wedding Tip of the Week – Inside the Garter Tradition

Every bride, traditional or not, knows something about the wedding garter. This bridal attire hides underneath the dress, waiting to be taken off by the groom and thrown to all the single men attending the big day. Yet, not many people know much about this symbolic tradition. Here is some history about the garter!

There used to be a superstition, hundreds of years ago, that owning a piece of a bride's dress would bring good luck. This led to wedding guests basically attacking the bride to rip off a piece of her gown. Eventually, things became much more tame and the bride would wear a specific article of clothing to be given out for good luck: the garter. Another belief is that the garter symbolized the bride and groom consummating the marriage, so it would be taken off and given to family and friends as proof. Both ancient beliefs require the garter be taken off and given away. Today, the removal of the garter is reserved for the groom and usually follows the bouquet toss. Whichever man catches it is said to be the next to marry.

How To Wear A Wedding Garter

The purpose of a wedding garter is to hold up stockings under the wedding gown. It can be worn on either leg, as long as the groom knows which one it is before he removes it. Some brides choose to wear two garters: one to throw and one to keep. When wearing two, the bride should wear the tossing garter below the keepsake garter to make things easier.The best place to wear your garter is right above the knee.

What's fun about the garter is that it is now personalized to fit any style. You can choose one that fits the wedding theme or surprise your new spouse with one that incorporates one of their favorite sport teams or hobbies.

Wedding Tip of the Week – Guest Book

When it comes to think about your wedding guest book, it doesn't have to be just a book. While those are wonderful, there are many great ideas out there that can be displayed throughout your home to remember your day by. Here are a few ideas that you can incorporate into your wedding:

  • Quilt – Have your guests sign a piece of a quilt. This can be displayed in your living room or bedroom.
  • Furniture – Think about having your guests sign a bench or even a table. This is a fun piece to include in your home.
  • Wine Corks – Guests can each sign a wine cork. These can then be turned into a corkboard or even just displayed in a pretty bowl.
  • Globe – If you love to travel, a globe would be perfect for your guest book.
  • Frame – Have your guests sign a picture frame that can later be used to display a wedding photo.

On one of your friend's biggest days, you need to be prepared as ever. It's not your day, so you shouldn't be running last minute errands for yourself. It's very important to pack everything you need, which is why we created this bridesmaid wedding day packing list.
