Amping Up The Ceremony With Wedding Music Tips

April 7th, 2008 - Posted by Jamie Adams

Wedding Ceremony Music Tips

Every little girl has dreamed of the moment where the wide cathedral doors open and reveal for the first time the beautiful bride as she makes her way to her groom. Countless hours are poured into making every moment as special as possible. Music selected for the wedding ceremony should reflect this significance while lending individuality to the occasion. Whether walking down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon In D or another popular tune, allow the wedding ceremony music to express the joy and care with which the day was planned.

Many brides get lost in the overwhelming shuffle of details during the planning of a wedding. Ceremony music selections should be among the easiest of choices throughout the preparations and these handy tips for choosing ceremony music will make sure the process is a breeze!

  • Poll The Audience. Ask around. Most people that have attended a wedding or reception have stories of the songs that made them fall in love again or the tunes that brought tears for other reasons.
  • Sample The Selection Platter! Visualizing the performers first-hand gives a vivid example of what the performance will be like at other ceremonies.
  • Individual Style. The music should reflect the bride, the groom, and the romance that brought the ceremony to life. Use songs that convey the message best regardless of time period. Variety is the spice of life so feel free to vary the lineup!
  • Check Yes Or No. Be sure to get all performance agreements in writing. Times, locations, song selections, and similar information should be ironed out long before the performances.
  • I Heard The Bells…And The Horn, And The Guitar. The type of venue may better facilitate one form of entertainment than another. For instance, large churches may be great for ensemble pieces and traditional songs though few are likely to hear the string section over the rush of the crashing waves.
  • The Wedding Singer. The songs dedicated from bride to groom and groom to bride are of particular importance during a ceremony. If the piece is particularly tricky, let the wedding singer, musicians, or wedding bands know with plenty of time to spare for preparation.
