Choose a flower girl between the ages of 4 and 8; keeping the child’s personality in mind. Don’t choose a child that is painfully shy even if she is the most adorable child in the world. Chances are your wedding will not be the place where she comes out of her shell and she will be to frighten to walk down the isle. It is appropriate to select a flower girl for your wedding from nieces, cousins or family friends.
After selecting the flower girl check with the ceremony location to see if petal dropping is permissible. If not the flower girl can just carry flowers in a basket or a bouquet.
If an appropriate flower girl is not available, then it is better not to have a flower girl.
