Wedding Invitations Tips

Selecting and Sending

Creating the perfect wedding invitation is an exciting part of every ceremony. Brides along with bridesmaids, family, and friends gather together to shop for, select, and send the announcement of the happy couple’s union. It is an experience to be cherished as the bridal party talks and laughs together while addressing envelopes. Special memories are created when mother, daughter, and future son-in-law sit together at the family table to prepare a wedding guest list and number the invitations needed.

There are thousands of styles of wedding invitations from which to choose. Materials, colors, patterns, wording, fonts and more come together to provide a huge array of choices. There is no need to be overwhelmed by choice as it clearly means that your perfect wedding invitation is out there! Discovering and preparing the right wedding invitation is fun and easy with help from these great tips!

Selecting The Right Wedding Invitation Is A Breeze With These Easy Tips.

  • Select an invitation with a unique style and personality. The invitation should be as unique as the romance itself. Select patterns, themes, and styles that complement both people.
  • Scrapbook-worthy wedding invitations are beautiful to share for years to come. Wedding invitations that reflect the budding love of the couple will quickly become cherished family heirlooms.
  • Many elaborate invitations require a tissue paper insert between the wedding invitation and the reception card. Once used to prevent smudging oils on engraved invitations, modern printing techniques no longer require the insert. Many couples continue to use tissue paper inserts as a traditional addition to the invitations.
  • Consider a recycled paper for the invitations and envelopes. Brides are now able to choose invitations from a wide array of lovely paper with a thoughtful and equally charming gesture.
  • Order extra wedding invitations and envelopes. Printers and people make mistakes so be sure to have a few additional of each.
  • Calligraphy is a beautiful enhancement to most wedding invitations. If using a calligrapher, allow four to six (4-6) weeks time to complete the invitations before they need to be mailed. Wedding invitations should be mailed six to eight (6-8) weeks prior to the reception; invitations with calligraphy should be presented to the calligrapher ten to fourteen (10-14) weeks before the wedding day. Allow more time for destination weddings.
  • Response postcards are a more cost efficient way to receive RSVPs. New designs are created daily that make sending a response postcard an elegant and fashionable addition to any invitation.

Sending Wedding Invitations – Tips To Ensure Elegance

  • Wedding invitation etiquette suggests sending invitations at least six (6) weeks prior to the wedding day with a request for RSVP information at least three (3) weeks prior.
  • Destination wedding invitations should be sent twelve (12) weeks in advance of the wedding. This allows guests time to request leave from work as well as to save for the longer trip.
  • Save-the-date cards should be sent six (6) months prior to the wedding. This is especially important in destination weddings. Save-the-date cards announce the ceremony while invitations are a beautiful reminder and keepsake.
  • DO NOT include wedding registry information in the wedding invitations. This information should be saved for bridal shower invitations, party announcements, or word of mouth delivery.
  • To preserve the integrity and elegance of the wedding invitation envelopes, ask the post office to hand cancel the envelopes instead of bar coding.
  • Weigh the envelopes with all of the inserts before buying postage. This is especially important if many enclosures are included.
  • An easy tip for tracking responses is to lightly number each response card. This makes deciphering illegible writing less of a challenge.
