Today is World Smile Day. This fun day was celebrated for the first time in 1999 to honor Harvey Ball, the artist who created the smiley face. Mr. Ball felt that the original meaning of the smiley face was becoming too commercialized and wanted to set aside one day each year for everyone to take time to smile and pass out acts of kindness.
