Prom 2008 Elegance Defined
Prom Dresses – Available Options
For the ladies long, sleek, elegant dresses are the way to go this year. Whether a strapless, halter, or one-shoulder gown, these dress styles encompass chic fashion trends with red carpet glam. Beading, such as sequins or rhinestones, is always a great-added touch to a gown if not overdone. Be cautious when choosing a dress with a profound amount of beading or rhinestones. These dresses tend to be extremely heavy and can be uncomfortable when trying to enjoy prom activities.
Although prom dresses are available in a rainbow of colors this year, more subdued natural tones top the prom dress trends this year. As always, black is timeless; but deep purple tones, burnt orange, olive green, warm yellows and browns are all great colors for Prom 2008. Soft chiffon, organza, and slinky satin are fabulous fabrics for this year’s chic and sophisticated style. These fabrics are light and airy which embrace the glamorous celebrity-like fashions of this prom season. Plus size prom dresses are no longer hard to find and are usually available in the same stylish designs as the smaller sizes. Depending on the store, most prom dress vendors can order your size if they do not have it in stock.

Coordinating With Your Prom Date
Looking your best for prom means co-coordinating your attire with your date’s formal wear attire. The use of complimentary colors is the easiest way to co-ordinate. Trying to match the color of a prom dress to the color of a tuxedo or a suit can be quite an undertaking. However, a simple boutonniere is a chic way to tie in color and compliment your date's dress. Many couples choose to match the dress and the tuxedo color. Matching colors exactly can be tricky, especially with colors like lavender. To match the vest of a classic tuxedo and a prom dress, take a sample of the prom dress fabric to the tuxedo rental shop. With the fabric sample you will be able to tell if the colors available will match or clash. Often it is better to go with a neutral or complimentary colored vest to avoid any chance of the colors clashing.
Riding in Style – How to Show-off Prom Attire
Trends of formal wear come and go 'like the wind' while some become ultimate classics. Any formal wear style can work in the right place at the right time. Achieving the perfect prom look begins with your personality. Most local formal wear stores will be happy to assist you in finding the right look. Just remember that looking your best for prom is important; but having a great time is the ultimate goal.
