However, these days unique wedding favors are desired by the bride and groom to add originality and personalization to the wedding festivities. Discover the journey of the wedding favor and the true meaning behind the sustained tradition.
The Wedding Favor Tradition
The tradition of distributing wedding favors as a gesture of gratitude is a very old one. Many believe that the first wedding favor was a bonbonniere which was common among European aristocrats. A bonbonniere is a Continue reading "The Wedding Favor Journey" »
Video Game Tournament For Teenagers
As a dad of 15 year old boy, I wanted to give my son a congratulations party for having such good grades ( all A’s in advanced curriculum). Knowing how he enjoys playing video games, I decided a Guitar Hero tournament party would be suitable. I felt I could handle 15-18 teenagers at this video game party. I rented 1 extra game player at my local video game rental store, to go with the one we already had.
For decorations, I decided we would need chrome streamers, which I located at a party supply store. I hung the streamers down like a curtain by using a dowel rod. To do this I drilled two holes in to each end so it Continue reading "Video Game Tournament For Teenagers" »

Why Toss The Garter?
Like tossing the bridal bouquet, the tradition of tossing the garter is rooted in the ancient belief that pieces of a bride’s attire can spread her good luck to the person who holds them (see "Why toss the bouquet?"). As a personal item, the bride’s garter is imbued with even more meaning than her bouquet, and should only be removed by the groom. In some traditions, the garter represents the bride’s virginal girdle, and the groom claims ownership of her body when he removes it. This proved a dangerous thought in some cultures, for drunken wedding-goers would attempt to claim the garter themselves and soil a bit of the bride’s chastity in the process. Thus the groom would ceremoniously remove the garter and toss it to his attendants or best Continue reading "Why Toss The Garter?" »

Wearing Pearls on Wedding Day
The tradition of wearing pearls on your wedding day is a controversial wedding tradition. To some, it is a time-honored tradition – where a strand of pearls is passed from one generation to the next and worn by the bride on her wedding day. The pearls are worn to "take away the bride's tears"; to ensure a happy marriage without tears. Greeks believe the pearl would promote marital harmony; pearls symbolize love, success, happiness, modesty, chastity and purity. The height of this wedding tradition occurred during the Victorian Era. This tradition does not require that the strand of pearls be passed from one generation to the Continue reading "Wearing Pearls on Wedding Day" »
