Incorporating Social Media into Your Wedding

Social media is a big party of everyone's lives now. Are you on it multiple times during the day? It can definitely be addicting, but it's also a great way to keep in touch with high school, college, elementary, or even family friends that you don't get to see as much as you would like. It's apart of everything and can even be apart of your wedding. Wedding and Party Network has a few tips on how you can incorporate social media into your wedding.

Wedding Invitations – If you're wanting to cut costs or you're having an eco-friendly wedding, having e-friendly wedding invitations is the way to go. You can set up an event on Facebook with all the details of your wedding. Guests can then RSVP.

Plus having it on Facebook serves as a good reminder to everyone. Send out save the dates with a QR code and when scanned it will take them to the wedding invitation, party playlist for their wedding, or even a fun video.

Great for Photos – Your guests will most definitely be taking pictures during the wedding. However, you may not ever get the privilege of seeing them. Guests can upload all their photos from your wedding and tag you in them so you can see all the little moments you might have missed. They can also do this through Twitter as well, just create a special hashtag.

Lets not forget about Instagram as well. Again, just create a hashtag for your guests to use so you can see search for their photos. It would even be cute to put a little note on each table so guests know the hashtag to use. These are great sites for people to post their photos and for you to see the special moments.

During the Ceremony – Your guests can give updates to everyone on their social media. It would be like a live feed. You may find this appropriate or not, it's up to you. It would be a great idea if you have guests that couldn't attend. This way, they could still be in the know of what's happening.

There are many ways that you can use social media for your wedding. You can plan your wedding, give your guests a live feed of your wedding, or even create a gift registry online. Find the best ones that work for your wedding.

Inspirational Friday – Silver

Silver is an absolutely stunning color. It's gorgeous and truly makes for an elegant wedding. Don't forget that it can be paired with almost anything as well. Silver wedding flowers, decor, wedding cake, and even the detail on your wedding dress can all be accented with this color. It makes a statement, yet it's not over-the-top. Find the right colors to go with it or it can even stand on it's own.

Eat Lucky for the New Year

Are you having friends and family members over to celebrate New Year's Day? Starting off the year with friends and family is a great way to begin. Why not start the year off with a bit of luck to make sure your year is filled with happiness. Wedding and Party Network has a list of foods that will help you eat yourself lucky for the brand new year.

  • Ham Hock & Black Eyed Peas
    Noodles –         Noodles are to symbolize long life and cannot be broken until the whole noodle is in your mouth.
  • Pork – Since pigs are known to keep their feet planted and snouts moving forward when they eat, it is believed to symbolize progress for the future.
  • Lentils – It is believed lentils resemble coins. Whenever you cook these lentils, they end up plumping up a bit. Therefore, be on the lookout for a plumper wallet.
  • Fish – Since fish swim forward, people eat fish on New Year's to symbolize moving forward in their life. Also, some may think of it as abundance since fish swim in large schools.
  • Greens – Of course, it's the color of money. Kale, spinach, cabbage, and collard are traditionally eaten on New Year's Day. Eat more greens for more wealth and prosperity.
  • Black Eyed Peas – This is a common food to eat within the southern states. This is another food that represents abundance and coins so again eat these if you want a prosperous year.
  • Pomegranate – What is this associated with? Abundance and fertility. So, if you're looking for either of those, pomegranates are a must.
  • Citrus – When the Chinese celebrate the new year, they normally have bowls of tangerines and oranges for prosperity.
  • Grapes – At midnight, be prepared to eat 12 grapes. Why? It's normally done in Spain and Spanish-speaking countries and you eat 12 grapes for each strike of the clock. This actually came around when they were having a grape surplus.

If you eat these foods on New Year's Day, you'll be extremely lucky, prosperous, and abundance for the upcoming year. Some believe and some may not, however, it's a fun tradition to have on the first day of the year.

    Sit down with your calendar –         What holiday parties, special events, charities, birthday parties, baby showers, or bridal showers do you have to plan for the year 2013? Figure out the dates and when the best time to have it would be. Planning it early lets you secure those dates for your venues and you won't have to plan around everyone else if your event was planned months in advance.
  • Secure your event venue – Once you have settled on a date, start researching venues. There maybe a special venue that you wanted to secure last year but it was booked. Be sure to call NOW to make sure you reserve your space.
  • Find inspiration for party themes – Now that you have secured your date and venue, start finding inspiration for your party themes. Find out what's trending on the party circuit and see if any of those themes would be perfect for your events. Search party blogs, websites, and magazines for any inspiration you may find.
  • Once you've settled on a theme – Since you've picked out a party theme, start scouring your local party store or online for party decorations, party invitations, and other detailing that might go perfect with it. You can search for great deals and save more when you plan early.

Get Cozy for New Year's Eve

How to Select the Best Engagement Ring for Her Finger Shape

Fingers come in various shapes and sizes. You must find the right engagement ring that accentuates her finger. Not every ring is for every finger. Some are short,  long, wide, or have bigger knuckles. This needs to come into accountability when you're purchasing an engagement ring. Wedding and Party Network has a few tips on how to select the best engagement ring for her finger shape.

Shorter Fingers – Think about going with a vertical setting for petite hands with shorter fingers. Go with oval or rectangular shaped diamonds for the engagement ring. Why? It will help elongate. Also considering going with something delicate. You don't want a ring that is too overwhelming for her hand.

Wider or Larger Fingers – Wider bands or shanks work really well. Go with angular or asymmetrical shapes, which helps minimize wider fingers. These shapes help slim the fingers and flatters well.

Longer Fingers – Really, just pick an engagement ring and go with it. Any shape or size of engagement rings look great on longer fingers. Cushion, princess, emerald, or oval cut all look great.

Also, don't forget to set up a candy bar. Feature gum balls in a variety of colors, Blow pops, Pop Rocks, bubble gum, and any other type of candy you can think of. A baby shower cake is a must too.

Pop Quiz – If you want to have shower activities, you can have guests see who can blow the biggest bubble from bubble gum, catch bubbles, or create a pop quiz that features questions on the mother-to-be and pregnancy facts. These games are fun for everyone!
